Mayor Fung Refuses to Condemn Trump’s Family Separation Policy

After at first refusing to comment at all on the Trump Administration’s policy of separating children from their parents, Cranston Mayor Allan Fung eventually came out of hiding but refused to condemn the dangerous Trump policy.
GoLocalProv reported yesterday morning that, “Rhode Island GOP gubernatorial candidate Allan Fung’s campaign refused comment on the practice by the Trump Administration of separating children from their family at the border, which has reportedly now seen 2,000 children removed from their parents in six weeks.”
After facing criticism, Fung released a statement yesterday afternoon that did not criticize Trump’s policy and incorrectly blamed Congress for the situation.
“Yet again, we see Mayor Fung putting his loyalty to the Trump Administration ahead of doing what’s right,” said DGA Press Secretary Melissa Miller. “His cowardly refusal to speak out against this dangerous and divisive Trump policy stands in stark contrast with Governor Raimondo’s compassionate leadership. Rhode Islanders deserve better than Trump ally Allan Fung.”
