Mastriano’s Running Mate Refuses to Say She’ll Accept Results of the Election, Dodges on Extreme Sec of State Pick

In a local TV interview this weekend, Doug Mastriano’s running mate, Carrie DelRosso, refused to say Mastriano’s campaign would accept the results of the 2022 election and once again suggested Mastriano will appoint a Big Lie conspiracy theorist as secretary of state.

When asked directly if she would accept the results of the 2022 election if she loses and agree to a peaceful transfer of power, DelRosso wouldn’t answer the question.

Instead, DelRosso said the “most important thing” Mastriano would do in office is appoint a secretary of state who will “promote fair elections.”

Doug Mastriano has said he knows who he’d appoint as secretary of state, but he won’t say who it is. He’s floated picks like Toni Shuppe, who led the effort to conduct a sham audit of the 2020 election in Pennsylvania and like Mastriano, has embraced the most fringe Q-Anon conspiracy theories.

Shuppe has said “every state needs to secede from the Federal government,” claimed former President Barack Obama was “born in Kenya,” declared the official story of the September 11th terror attacks a “lie,” and called the January 6th insurrection “a set up.”

“Mastriano and his running mate’s refusal to say they’d accept the election results or name their secretary of state pick is just another example of the dangerous extremism they’ve pushed throughout their campaign,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “Make no mistake, democracy is on the ballot in the Pennsylvania governors’ race this November, and the only way to protect it is to elect Josh Shapiro.”
