Mark Robinson Runs Away from Questions After Declaring “Some Folks Need Killing!”
One week after a report from The New Republic revealed Mark Robinson proudly declared at a campaign event that “Some folks need killing,” he’s still refusing to answer basic questions.
Since then, Robinson has faced intense local and national scrutiny for his dangerous comments, refuses to answer who he believes needs killing, and is lashing out and running into elevators to hide from reporters who attempt to ask him.
- CBS 17 reported that when their reporter tried to ask Robinson for clarification on his comments, “Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson called questions regarding his comments about some folks needing to be killed ‘silly’ and ‘shameful.’”
- WNCN stated that Robinson “rarely agrees to interviews” and even though “a representative for Robinson claimed the Lt. Gov. would comment on the day’s event, he did not stop to talk to reporters about the ceremony.”
- WRAL reported on Robinson’s habit of dodging the press, reporting that “Robinson doesn’t make himself available to the media as often as other statewide officeholders or high-office candidates” and he ”left without answering questions.”
- On The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, O’Donnell slammedRobinson as the “craziest and most dangerous Republican running for governor this year” as he played footage of Robinson berating reporters and refusing to answer questions about his “killing” comments.
- The New Republic’s Greg Sargent, who broke the original story of Robinson’s comments, wrote that Mark Robinson “apparently didn’t take it well” when “asked by reporters to clarify his rant about ‘killing.’”
“Mark Robinson is always quick to spew dangerous rhetoric, but quickly runs away when faced with having to explain himself to North Carolinians,” said DGA National Press Secretary Devon Cruz. “Robinson’s embrace of political violence proves that he is too dangerous to ever be trusted to keep North Carolina families safe.”
