LaRocking the Boat: Virginia’s GOP Gov Primary Heats Up as Dave LaRock Slams Winsome Earle-Sears and Her Fumbling Campaign

Latest News

This morning, Dave LaRock went on WMAL to publicly trash Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears and her campaign, and began making the case against her after officially launching his campaign for governor last week.

On the show, LaRock tore into Sears by telling the hosts that it’s “pretty obvious to me now, and to many others, that people are not going to unite around the person that is just a talker and not a doer, and is also a very, extremely divisive candidate,” arguing that Virginia Republicans “need a fighter, not a talker.”

LaRock slammed Sears’ inability to unite the GOP base — later saying she “divided her base” on the John Fredericks show — and warned that recent polling showing Sears losing is just “a glimpse at where we could be in November if we don’t have a candidate that will actually step up, show a track record of getting things done and speaking out on the right issues.”

LaRock also reacted to a recent Sears interview where she claimed that Virginia is a “blue state” by calling it “really peculiar” for someone on the GOP ticket to say, and said that Sears “can’t expect to win” if she’s “already given up.”

“After months of running unopposed, Winsome Earle-Sears is flailing in a messy primary that is already nasty after just a few days,” said DGA National Press Secretary Devon Cruz. “Sears is rapidly losing the faith of other Virginia Republicans who are calling out her weaknesses and vulnerabilities, forcing her to run even further to the right and ensuring this primary will only get more chaotic.”
