KNIVES OUT: Iowa GOP Primary Gets Nasty as Randy Feenstra Hides from the Campaign Trail

Iowa’s crowded and nasty Republican primary is in full swing, as Republican candidates, county parties, and activists across the state are criticizing Randy Feenstra for failing to show up and hiding from the campaign trail.

The On Iowa Politics podcast detailed how Feenstra “has definitely not endeared himself to the Republican grassroots” and is losing support from local county parties after skipping yet another GOP gubernatorial candidate forum just days after saying that he would start showing up at forums with his opponents — which he only did after being hammered by his primary opponents for his no-show campaign.

The Gazette’s Erin Murphy emphasized how he has “heard Iowa Republicans talking about this and talking about how it’s not a good look for Randy Feenstra.”

No-show Feenstra is also taking heat from well-known conservative activist Bob Vander Plaats for bragging about his height while hiding from the campaign trail. Plaats said that Feenstra failing to show up for Iowans “is not a winning strategy for him nor for Iowa” and is the “‘new height’ of arrogance.” Brutal!

Feenstra’s opponents echoed the attack, with Adam Steen saying “show up, Randy. It’s what leaders do if they want to reach new heights,” and Brad Sherman piling on with a Where’s Waldo-themed Where’s Randy graphic of his own.
