John James Defends Trump’s Attacks on Gordie Howe Bridge and Michigan Workers
Rest of Republican field also refusing to stand up to Trump’s threats to close the Gordie Howe Bridge
John James has rushed to defend Donald Trump’s threats to close the Gordie Howe Bridge – even though that would be devastating to Michigan’s workers and economy.
The bridge, which is nearly complete and was expected to open early this year, was constructed with American workers and bipartisan support. Even Trump once called it a “vital economic link,” while James’ family business previously hosted a celebration for a new bridge.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Republican field – including Perry Johnson, Aric Nesbitt and Tom Leonard, among others – has refused to speak out against Trump’s threats to deliver this massive blow to Michigan’s economy.
“John James has proven once again he’ll always sell out Michigan workers if he thinks it helps his own extreme, partisan politics,” said DGA Communications Director Sam Newton. “As this nasty GOP primary races further to the right, every other Republican running for governor needs to pick a side: will they side with Trump’s chaos or stand with Michigan’s workers?”
