Inslee Statement on State of the Union

Tonight, DGA Chair and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee released the following statement regarding President Trump’s State of the Union address: 

“Tonight, Donald Trump can’t hide from his disastrous first year in office, from his divisive attacks on American families to his massive tax giveaway to the wealthy to his endless assault on the health care of millions of Americans. President Trump has brought nothing but wrong priorities and broken politics to Washington D.C.

“The bright spot in governance in our country has been in states led by Democratic governors, where we are actually moving forward on the big issues facing our states and our nation. Democratic governors are working to grow jobs, strengthen the middle class, protect civil rights and ensure clean air and clean water for our children. While Washington, D.C., is broken, Washington state and other states around the country are leading with smart policies that grow economies and solve problems for families in our states.

“This has been a tough year for many Americans who are concerned about the future of their families, their communities, their country, and their planet. Democratic governors are committed to putting people first, and solving the problems Donald Trump and Washington refuse to solve.”
