Inslee Statement on Pennsylvania Congressional Map Ruling

Today, DGA Chair and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee released the following statement on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court order to redraw the state’s congressional maps:

“Today’s ruling in the Pennsylvania Supreme Court is a big victory for fairer electoral maps. It also underscores why governors  are critical to ensuring fairer representation. Governor Wolf will play a key role in unrigging the maps in Pennsylvania and changing the illegal partisan maps that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court rejected.

“The governor of Pennsylvania and dozens of other governors elected in 2018 will have veto power over the maps drawn in the 2021 redistricting process. Democratic governors are the best firewall to stop the kind of Republican gerrymandering that our nation has endured for the last decade.”
