Kansas City and St. Louis business and health care leaders have issued an urgent, blunt warning to Missouri Gov. Mike Parson: Immediately order uniform social distancing across the state to help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
KSDK: Regional leaders plead with Gov. Parson to order tighter COVID-19 restrictions
In a letter to Governor Mike Parson, 10 hospital and civic leaders from St. Louis, Kansas City and Springfield called on the governor to “immediately order uniform social distancing across Missouri to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The group includes the CEO’s of BJC Health and SSM Health, the Senior Vice President of Mercy St. Louis and President and CEO of the St. Louis Regional Chamber.

The Kansas City Chamber of commerce and other civic organizations are urging Missouri Gov. Mike Parson to take more strict action to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

“As civic organizations representing employers and businesses across the Kansas City region, we strongly support you taking executive action to accomplish social distancing in Missouri to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” the letter reads.
FOX 4: Health department leaders implore Gov. Parson to implement stricter statewide restrictions
As states across the country move to restrict public movement to involve only the basics, a group of Missouri health leaders are asking that Governor Mike Parson follow suit in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Missouri Center for Public Health Excellence, which Kansas City Health Director Dr. Rex Archer is vice president of, sent Parson a letter on Friday that FOX4 obtained with a list of restriction requests, including that people only leave their homes for food, medical care, or to go to work.
