ICYMI: MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Applauds Democratic Governors For Taking Early Action on COVID-19
On MSNBC Wednesday night, Rachel Maddow praised leaders like Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and California Gov. Gavin Newsom who “grabbed the curve early and decisively and bent it forcefully down.” She said, “They are doing better than they otherwise would have, better than they prepared for.”
This preparation has resulted in states that locked down early sending supplies to states that need it most. California sent ventilators to New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Maryland, Washington D.C., Delaware and Nevada. Both Washington and Oregon have also lent ventilators to New York. And Washington even returned an unused FEMA field hospital.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom have all said that the stay at home orders and social distancing measures in their states appear to be flattening the curve, but have emphasized that it’s important to keep the policies in place in order to save more lives.
