Hold Your Applause: Martinez’s Name Booed During Town Hall Meeting
Pence faces ‘united chorus of jeers’ after calling RGA Chair a ‘great governor’
Mike Pence tried his best to stand up for the Chair of the Republican Governors Association, but her constituents just weren’t having it.
During a town hall meeting in New Mexico last night, Pence was met with a “united chorus of jeers” after fielding questions about Gov. Susana Martinez and her position on supporting Donald Trump.
“She is a great governor,” Pence said.
His response, however, “prompted vast jeering among several hundred fellow Republicans,” reported NBC News.

Last night’s episode marks the second time that Trump’s campaign has ignited home-state scrutiny of Gov. Martinez. During a campaign visit in May, Trump told a crowd of thousands of New Mexican voters that Gov. Martinez was “not doing the job,” and that “she’s got to do a better job.”
Martinez has consistently ducked questions over her support for Donald Trump and still refuses to answer if she will vote for Trump in November.
