Heading Into Election Day, Trump Gives MA GOP Primary Its Final Dose of MAGA
The Massachusetts GOP primary for governor is finishing the way it started, as an all-out race to the far-right. On the eve of today’s primary election, Donald Trump campaigned for his handpicked candidate for Massachusetts governor, MAGA crony Geoff Diehl.
Trump said Diehl “will rule your state with an iron fist.”
“Diehl welcomed the former president’s support and his virtual presence,” the Boston Herald reported, “saying he would run Massachusetts in a way similar to the 45th president’s management of the nation.”
A longtime Trump loyalist, Diehl has proven he’ll bring the MAGA agenda to Massachusetts. He supports Trump’s Big Lie that the 2020 election was rigged and celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade.Similarly, the other GOP candidate Chris Doughty has said he’d vote for Trump again — even after January 6th — and praised Trump’s disastrous tax plan that gave huge handouts to the wealthiest while leaving working families behind.
“Geoff Diehl openly admits he wants to bring Trump’s dangerous and out-of-touch MAGA agenda to Massachusetts,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “This GOP primary has been more about appeasing Trump and the far-right than delivering real solutions for working families. No matter who wins, Massachusetts will reject the harmful MAGA agenda of the GOP nominee.”
