The Student Success Act increases funding for Oregon’s public schools to improve education for every child statewide
Democratic Oregon Gov. Kate Brown yesterday ceremonially signed the Student Success Act, adding $1 billion to classrooms every year. The bill, which was decades in the making, was passed by the legislature in May. The Student Success Act is aimed at improving education for every student in the state. The funding will support expanded access to high-quality preschool, resources to support students’ mental health, and efforts to boost high school graduation rates.

Oregon Public Broadcasting: Oregon Governor Signs Billion-Dollar Education Bill On 1st Day Of School
The Jefferson High School Class of 2023 received a first day of school visit from Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, Superintendent Guadalupe Guerrero and other elected officials.
During the visit to the North Portland high school, Brown ceremonially signed the Student Success Act, a bill authorizing $1 billion a year for education in Oregon, funded by a business tax.
Siuslaw News: Student success at heart of new education act
As the new school year approaches, a major change to the manner in which Oregon school districts will be funded in 2020, and beyond, has been signed into law.
On Aug. 26, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown symbolically signed The Student Success Act, House Bill 3427, at Medford High School. The new law is expected to add $1 billion of revenue, each year, to the pool of money distributed by the Oregon Department of Education to school districts statewide for teaching K-12 students.

Governor Kate Brown helped welcome students back to school as she signed the Student Success Act in front of the freshman class at Jefferson High School.
Adding $1 billion to classrooms every year, Brown said this legislation has been decades in the making.
“The fact that we were able to get this done, it rocks,” said Brown. “I’m so excited and I think the students can feel that excitement — and I know they know it’s important.
