Governor Shumlin Statement on Governor Malloy’s Announcement to Seek Re-election
Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin, Chair of the Democratic Governors Association, today issued the following statement regarding Governor Dan Malloy’s decision to seek re-election:
“Governor Dan Malloy’s leadership has focused on strengthening Connecticut’s future by giving businesses the help they need to grow and create good jobs, balanced the budget and reduced the state’s long-term debt. In addition, last night Governor Malloy made Connecticut the first state in the nation to increase the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.
“On behalf of our Democratic governors, I’d like to congratulate Governor Malloy on his decision to seek re-election. Unlike Republicans who are committed to rewarding the wealthiest and corporations at the expense of the middle class, Governor Malloy is focused on creating good-paying, middle-class jobs, making the critical investments in education, infrastructure, and innovation that will lead to long-term growth. Republicans are on the wrong side of these issues and will be rejected by voters in November.”
