Gov. Chris Sununu Brags About Signing Abortion Ban Just One Week After Claiming He’s “Pro-Choice”

Latest News

This week, Gov. Chris Sununu bragged, “I’ve done more on the pro-life issue than anyone,” after trying to say he was “pro-choice” just last week — despite his real record of signing an abortion ban into law.

Sununu’s attempt to cover up his extreme anti-choice views is tough to follow, but here’s a brief rundown:

  • Last year, as SCOTUS heard arguments in the Dobbs case, Sununu scoffed at the idea of taking action to protect abortion rights, saying, “I’m not really paying attention to that case.”
  • As Americans reeled over the leaked opinion to overturn Roe last week, Sununu released a statement falsely claiming he is a “pro-choice governor.”
  • But it seems he’s changed his tune again. On the conservative podcast Three Martini Lunch this week, Sununu bragged, “I’m the first governor in 40 years to sign an abortion ban … I’ve done more on the pro-life issue than anyone.”

“While Chris Sununu has been caught changing his tune again, the reality is he signed a dangerous abortion ban into law that is too extreme for New Hampshire,” said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. “With the ongoing threats to Roe v. Wade, New Hampshire deserves a new governor who will defend women and protect abortion rights — not Chris Sununu who can’t be trusted.”
