Fung and Morgan Supported Raising Taxes For Thousands of Rhode Island Middle-Class Families

Today, the Congressional tax bill endorsed by Rhode Island GOP gubernatorial candidates Cranston Mayor Allan Fung and House Minority Leader Patricia Morgan is on its way to becoming law.

The Senate passed the tax reform bill today that will raise taxes on Rhode Island middle-class families, giving huge tax breaks to the wealthy, and ballooning the national debt.

Morgan and Fung both endorsed the bill. Fung claimed it will “benefit Rhode Islanders,” and Morgan said it would create a “brighter future across our great state.”

“Republicans in Congress just voted to raise taxes on Rhode Island middle-class families and Allan Fung and Patricia Morgan cheered them on,” said DGA Communications Director Jared Leopold. “Now as they run for governor, Fung and Morgan will have to explain to Rhode Island voters why they supported raising their taxes. Mayor Fung and Rep. Morgan decided to stand with Washington Congressional Republicans instead of the middle-class families of Rhode Island. Next year, voters will have an opportunity to send a message to Morgan and Fung about their wrong priorities.”
