GOP Candidates for Governor Back Health Care Cuts in Shameless Defense of Trump

NOTUS: Hill Republicans Want to Cut Medicaid. These Gubernatorial Candidates Have to Answer for It.

Once again, Republican candidates for governor are all-in on defending Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans’ plans to strip health care from millions of Americans.

New reporting from NOTUS highlights that New Jersey Republican nominee Jack Ciattarelli not only “stands behind President Donald Trump”, but also “argued in favor of cutting spending on entitlement programs.” He even acknowledged that MAGA Republicans’ budget bill will be held “responsible for cuts in Social Security,” which would devastate families across the Garden State.

Ciattarelli’s comments come less than a week after he said he does not disagree with Trump on anything, reiterating that there is no daylight between him and Washington Republicans. And he previously endorsed cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security — essential programs that millions of Americans rely on — as a “grand experiment.”

The reporting also highlights Virginia Republican nominee Winsome Earle-Sears’ continuously evasive tactics to avoid the topic all together, refusing to oppose Trump’s Medicaid cuts.

“While hundreds of thousands of families in New Jersey and Virginia are concerned about losing their health care, Jack Ciattarelli and Winsome Earle-Sears are focused on proving their loyalty to Donald Trump,” said DGA Communications Director Sam Newton. “They need to stop hiding and explain to the people of their states why they refuse to oppose these dangerous Medicaid cuts that will rip families off health care, threaten rural hospitals and kill jobs.”
