Fung Won’t Protect Rhode Islanders’ Health Care—Again
Yesterday, Mayor Allan Fung confirmed that he would not stand up to protect health care for Rhode Island families. When asked yesterday by WPRI whether he supported the Trump Administration’s moves that would allow insurers to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions, he refused to comment.
463,000 Rhode Islanders could potentially lose their access to health care under this latest Trump scheme, yet Mayor Fung refuses to speak out on their behalf.
Failing to stand up for Rhode Islanders against the Trump Administration’s dangerous agenda is nothing new for Mayor Fung—he regularly ducks questions and refuses to speak out against his own political allies like President Trump.
“Rhode Island deserves a governor who will stand up and fight back against efforts to take away health care coverage from families who need it. Governor Raimondo will, and Mayor Fung will not,” said DGA Press Secretary Melissa Miller. “Yet again Mayor Fung has put his political allies in the Trump Administration ahead of the wellbeing of Rhode Islanders. He is unfit to lead.”
