Friday at 8:40 AM in Providence: Democratic Governors to Highlight State Impact of Health Care Bill
At press conference to kick off NGA, Democrats to discuss disastrous effect of Senate bill on states’ citizens, budgets
On Friday at 8:40 AM, Democratic governors will kick off NGA weekend with a joint press conference to highlight the damaging impact that the pending Senate health care bill would have on their states. As the Senate considers changes to its bill, Democratic governors will discuss the overwhelming opposition to the bill from red, blue and purple states across the country.
Democratic governors discussing the impact on their states will include: DGA Chair Dan Malloy (CT), Gina Raimondo (RI), John Hickenlooper (CO), Steve Bullock (MT), John Bel Edwards (LA) and Roy Cooper (NC).
The bill proposes a massive cost-shift to states, with $772 billion in Medicaid cuts, according to the most recent Congressional Budget Office report. Democratic – and several Republican – governors have expressed concerns about the bill’s effect on state budgets.
Press conference is for credentialed media only. Please RSVP to Alex Japko at japko@dga.net
