Former Partners-in-Crime Scott Walker and Rebecca Kleefisch Team Back Up to Return Their Disastrous Agenda to Wisconsin
This morning on the Jay Weber show, former Republican Gov. Scott Walker announced his endorsement of his old lieutenant governor Rebecca Kleefisch in the Wisconsin GOP primary for governor.
The endorsement comes as no surprise. As governor and lieutenant governor, the two teamed up to slash education funding, negotiate the disastrous Foxconn deal that would have cost taxpayers $4.5 billion, create a massive teacher shortage, and sue to kick thousands of Wisconsinites off their health care and eliminate protections for those with pre-existing conditions.
In the endorsement, Walker tried to pitch Kleefisch as an outsider, bragging that Kleefisch took on the establishment to win her lieutenant governor race. But this time around, there is no question that Kleefisch is the GOP insiders’ choice.
When rival Kevin Nicholson announced his bid, “he painted Kleefisch as part of the GOP establishment,” going after her for helping create the Wisconsin Elections Commission that she now wants to dissolve. With Walker’s endorsement, the attacks on Kleefisch’s insider status will only increase.
“Rebecca Kleefisch and Scott Walker are two peas in a pod when it comes to failing Wisconsinites,” said DGA Senior Communications Advisor Christina Amestoy. “Walker’s endorsement should remind voters how Kleefisch helped him gut funding for public education, cut shared revenue supporting first responders, and give Foxconn the largest tax handout to a foreign company in U.S. history.”
