Joe Lombardo, the most vulnerable Republican governor in America, will lay out his failed record in a speech today that will showcase why he is certain to be a one-term governor.

While he twists himself into knots trying to defend his disastrous agenda that has left Nevada’s working families and small businesses behind, here are the five things he will have to answer for from now until next November:

1. Creating a housing crisis by selling out Nevadans

Joe Lombardo ordered Republicans to block a bill limiting corporate home purchases, selling out Nevada families to a New York-based hedge fund and a Dallas-based, Wall Street-traded firm, who are now the largest homeowners in Las Vegas. Lombardo – whose campaign was bankrolled by real estate mogul Robert Bigelow – has manufactured his very own housing crisis with skyrocketing housing prices and record levels of foreclosure and eviction rates. But he didn’t stop there, he actually made it worse by vetoing affordable housing legislation.

2. Embracing Trump’s disastrous budget bill that guts health care for hardworking Nevadans

Joe Lombardo has said he was “excited” about Trump’s budget bill that will wreak havoc on Nevada, gutting health care for 115,000 Nevadans, creating steep cuts to food aid, and raising prices for families across the state. Lombardo was even caught on tape calling his constituents’ protests against Trump’s devastating agenda “stupid.”

3. Saying that Nevadans should “feel a little pain” from Trump’s reckless tariffs

While tourism in Nevada barrels towards a full-blown crisis thanks to Donald Trump’s toxic, erratic tariffs, Joe Lombardo thinks Nevadans should “feel a little pain.” Well, Lombardo’s wish has come true: working families and small businesses are suffering the consequences of Lombardo and Trump’s reckless behavior with no end in sight.

4. Blocking legislation that supports Nevada students and pushing to abolish the Department of Education

While Nevada continues to be ranked one of the bottom four states for children’s well-being and all education measurements plummeted over the last four years, Joe Lombardo has rejected every opportunity to help students get ahead. He has vetoed bills that would have guaranteed school meals and provided access to summer school for students who need it most. And to make matters worse, he supported the elimination of the Department of Education which puts nearly $1 billion at risk for Nevada schools and students.

5. Leaving a record number of Nevadans unemployed

Under Joe Lombardo, Nevada has had the highest unemployment in the nation for more than a year, lost nearly 5,000 jobs from May to June this year alone, and had one of the lowest job growth rates in the nation in 2024.
