Failed Presidential Candidate and DOGE Reject Vivek Ramaswamy Launches Campaign for Ohio Governor

After being pushed out of his role as co-chair of DOGE before Donald Trump even took office, failed presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is embarking on a new venture: running for governor of Ohio.

Ramaswamy made a name for himself during the 2024 presidential primary with his extreme and dangerous agenda, including his calls to ban birthright citizenship, fire thousands of American workers, abolish the department of education, and his support for an extreme abortion ban.

“Vivek Ramaswamy wants to fire American workers, decimate public education, and ban abortion before most women even know they’re pregnant. There’s a reason Ramaswamy’s presidential campaign was a non-starter in 2024: his ideas are dangerous, unhinged, and incredibly unpopular,” said DGA Campaign Communications Advisor Emma O’Brien. “Ohio workers and families are looking for a leader who will focus on the issues that they care most about – growing the economy, strengthening the workforce, fully funding public education, and protecting fundamental freedoms. Vivek Ramaswamy and his click-bait agenda would be a disaster for Ohioans.”

Ramaswamy joins fellow Republican candidate Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, who, in a failed attempt to avoid a messy primary, moved up his launch date to get ahead of Ramaswamy’s announcement, setting the tone for what is sure to be a nasty and chaotic open-seat primary.
