Every State, Every Vote Responds to President Trump’s Lawsuit Against Vote By Mail in Pennsylvania

Latest News

President Trump’s reelection campaign, along with the Republican National Committee and a group of PA Republican lawmakers, is suing Pennsylvania’s secretary of state and its county election boards over its expanded vote-by-mail system. The lawsuit seeks to prohibit the state from using mail ballot drop boxes, a secure method of collecting absentee ballots, in the general election.

Every State, Every Vote Co-Chair Oregon Gov. Kate Brown released the following statement:

“The Trump campaign and the RNC’s baseless attacks against vote-by-mail are dangerous to the health of our democracy. Governors from both parties are moving to vote-from-home measures to protect access to free and fair elections during the COVID-19 pandemic – and President Trump should be advocating for these measures, not suing to block them. His own pollsters found that the overwhelming majority of Americans support no-excuse absentee voting and safe in-person polling stations.

“As the first state to conduct elections entirely by mail, Oregon is proof that vote-by-mail is safe, secure, and bipartisan. The federal government needs to support additional election assistance for every state to enact vote-by-mail and other safety measures for upcoming elections. No American should have to choose between their health and their fundamental right to vote.”
