Even Republicans Say Robinson’s Extremism “Is the Dominant Feature” of North Carolina’s Governor’s Race
Less than two months until Election Day, a new report from The Hill outlines why even North Carolina Republicans are saying Mark Robinson’s dangerous record and agenda — including supporting a total abortion ban with no exception for rape or incest, attacking public education, and abusing taxpayer dollars and putting kids in harm’s way — are looming over the governor’s race.
One GOP strategist told The Hill that Robinson’s extreme comments and positions are “the dominant feature of the race,” adding that women in North Carolina are “appalled at so many things Robinson has said.”
Throughout the campaign, elected Republicans and strategists have warned that Robinson is too out of step with North Carolina, with Senator Thom Tillis declining to endorse him months after the state’s primary. The North Carolina Chamber of Commerce also released a statement “warning of the looming threats to North Carolina’s business climate” posed by a slate of extremist nominees after Robinson was nominated for governor.
“The more voters learn about Mark Robinson, the more they understand how wrong he is for North Carolina,” said DGA National Press Secretary Devon Cruz. “North Carolinians want to know that their next governor will be laser-focused on making their state stronger, safer, and more free — not on attacking fundamental rights, pushing conspiracy theories, or dragging the state backwards with toxic and divisive culture wars.”
