Edwards Once Again Raises More Than Anyone This Period
Gov. Edwards Has More Cash-On-Hand Than Either Of His Republican Opponents
Gov. Edwards once again raises more than anyone this fundraising period and has more cash-on-hand than either of his Republican opponents. Talk about momentum.
Edwards raised $822,000 last period and has $3.2 million cash-on-hand. Eddie Rispone has $2.7 million cash-on-hand and Rep. Ralph Abraham reported $319,000 cash-on-hand.
Edwards raised three times more money than both of his Republican opponents combined. Rispone reported a paltry $60,520 in contributions to his campaign in this period while Abraham reported 194,821.
Even worse, Ralph Abraham got caught loaning his campaign $350,000, when he said the reason he didn’t donate his $174,000 salary to charity was because he couldn’t afford it. Now he’s donated that amount to further his own political ambition.
“Gov. Edwards continues to receive overwhelming support from Louisianans because he puts Louisiana first,” said DGA Communications Director David Turner. “Rispone and Abraham are so out-of-touch they can barely find any donors for their campaigns. Even worse, this fundraising report shows Abraham will break any promise if it benefits his political ambition—even if it means stiffing sick children and wounded veterans.”
