Ducey Would Rather Have a White Nationalist In the State Legislature Than a Democrat — Do the GOP Candidates for Governor Agree?

Latest News

Last week in an interview with Arizona Mirror reporter Jeremy Duda, Gov. Doug Ducey said that anti-Semitic white nationalist and conspiracy theorist state Sen. Wendy Rogers “is still better” than her Democratic opponent.

“Rogers has intertwined herself with the Q-Anon crowd, has espoused racist ‘great replacement’ theories, has called for Christian theocracy, and is a member of the paramilitary group the Oath Keepers,” Rolling Stone reported. “She is also a ‘Big Lie’ proponent, falsely claiming that the 2020 presidential election was fraudulent.”

It’s no surprise that Rogers has endorsed fellow far-right extremist Kari Lake in the GOP primary for governor. The two are some of Trump’s most hardcore supporters, spreading racist dog whistles and the Big Lie.

In fact, both Lake and Rogers were featured on flyers for the white nationalist America First Political Action Conference hosted by a Holocaust denier last Friday — though Lake did not attend.

Karrin Taylor Robson has also shamelessly touted her support for Rogers’ campaign.

“Arizona Republicans are openly embracing anti-Semitism, white nationalism, and the Big Lie,” said DGA Senior Communications Advisor Christina Amestoy. “Doug Ducey, Kari Lake, and Karrin Taylor Robson have all expressed their support for Wendy Rogers’ hateful, dangerous rhetoric. Do the other GOP candidates for Arizona governor agree?”
