Doug Mastriano’s Latest Absurd Claim to Push Trump’s Election Lies: “There were better elections” in Iraq and Afghanistan
“What the hell is he talking about?”
Just weeks after his conspiracy theory tourism trip to Arizona’s sham audit site, likely GOP gubernatorial candidate Sen. Doug Mastriano repeatedly claimed, “There were better elections in Iraq when we were there occupying the country. There were better elections in Afghanistan.”
Watch the clip here.
It’s no surprise Mastriano is again facing backlash for his conspiracy theory antics inspired by Donald Trump’s ‘Big Lie.’ On New Day, CNN’s Brianna Keilar, John Berman and Amanda Carpenter discussed Mastriano’s far-right lies. “What the hell is he talking about?” said CNN’s Brianna Keilar.
Mastriano continues to push the same dangerous lies that helped spark the deadly January 6th attack on the US Capitol that Mastriano attended and paid thousands to bus people to. Mastriano even wants to overturn the will of voters and conduct a similar audit sham in Pennsylvania.
Mastriano isn’t the only one in the crowded field of likely Pennsylvania Republican primary candidates who have promoted anti-democratic lies. Lou Barletta, Joe Gale, and Bill McSwain have all embraced the ‘Big Lie’ or refused to denounce Trump’s conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.
