Donald Trump Endorses Lee Zeldin, As Texts Reveal Zeldin Schemed with Trump White House to Overturn the 2020 Election
Lee Zeldin just earned Donald Trump’s complete and total endorsement for governor.
The endorsement is no surprise given Zeldin has stood in lockstep with Donald Trump every step of the way and fought tirelessly to overturn the election results for him. New texts released today between Zeldin and Mark Meadows reveal just how far Zeldin went. The texts show Zeldin working behind the scenes the day before the election was called, providing Meadows with ideas to spread baseless conspiracy theories in order to try to overturn the election for Trump.
Zeldin also stood with Trump just hours after the violent insurrection on January 6th, when he voted against certifying the 2020 election.
Like Trump, Zeldin is opposed to a woman’s right to make her own reproductive health care decisions. Zeldin repeatedly voted for abortion bans, and currently supports a bill that would ban abortion without exceptions for rape, incest, or the life of the mother.
While he got Trump’s endorsement, Zeldin failed to secure the endorsement of his hometown paper. Newsday announced its endorsement of Gov. Kathy Hochul, citing her “good grasp of Long Island’s economic needs.”
“Trump’s endorsement shows just how out of step Lee Zeldin is with New York voters,” said DGA Communications Director David Turner. “Since day one, Zeldin has run for governor to bring Donald Trump’s failed policies to New York. While he continues to fully embrace the MAGA agenda, New Yorkers will reject Zeldin in November just like they rejected Trump.”
