DGA Statement on Governor-Elect Gina Hinojosa’s Victory in Texas
DGA Chair Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear released the following statement on Gina Hinojosa being elected the next governor of the state of Texas:
“Congratulations to Gina Hinojosa on being elected the next governor of Texas. Tonight, Gina made history, ending decades of one-party rule in Texas to become the first Democratic governor of the state since 1990, and the first ever Latina governor of Texas. Gina is a fighter who ran a campaign that took on the status quo and challenged corruption. She delivered a historic victory by bringing together Republicans, Democrats, and Independents around her plan to build a state where everyone can achieve the American Dream. The DGA looks forward to working with her as she puts the state government back on the side of Texas families and workers.”
The DGA invested over $1.4 million in Texas and worked closely with the Hinojosa campaign since its launch, including helping pay for campaign expenses and staff on the ground.
