DGA’s Ofirah Yheskel on MSNBC: While NY GOP Faces a “Really Nasty Fight” to Serve Trump, Gov. Hochul is Fighting for New Yorkers

This morning, DGA External Affairs Director Ofirah Yheskel joined Ali Vitali on MSNBC’s Way Too Early to discuss how MAGA loyalist Rep. Elise Stefanik’s potential run for governor is already turning New York’s Republican gubernatorial primary into a bitter competition to be the Trumpiest.

While Stefanik and the Republican field are focused on serving Donald Trump’s extreme agenda, Yheskel outlined how Gov. Kathy Hochul continues to fight for the issues that matter most to New Yorkers: lowering costs for working families, standing up for public education, and protecting reproductive freedom.

WATCH:

“Elise Stefanik should know, this is no consolation prize for her not being able to get tapped into the U.N. Frankly, I think that the Republicans are going to have a really nasty fight to serve a constituent of one right here, who is Donald Trump. And I think that they will take a lot of out of step positions … with where people in New York are. They want a governor who’s focused on lowering costs, who’s fighting for them, willing to fight for them against the Trump administration, and the folks who have floated their names – Bruce Blakeman was at the White House with Trump, celebrating these tariffs which are putting a squeeze on New Yorkers now. Elise Stefanik and Mike Lawler just voted for this budget that puts Social Security and Medicaid at risk. I wish them an ounce of luck going around the state of New York and explaining that vote to people.”
