DGA Vice Chair’s Statement Responding to Donald Trump’s Attacks on Democratic Governors During the Presidential Debate

DGA Vice Chair New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham issued the following statement in response to Donald Trump’s attacks on Democratic governors during the presidential debate: 

“President Donald Trump’s record is a record of failure. Joe Biden is right: He is the worst president this country has ever had. He has failed the American people every single day he’s been in office — and from the beginning of this pandemic, his failure has cost millions of Americans their livelihoods and hundreds of thousands their lives. From the start, he downplayed the threat, hid lifesaving information from the American people, and refused to take necessary actions. He hasn’t led because he’s not capable of leadership. He is selfish and has none of the skills to do the job. When our country needed a strong leader, Trump failed to answer the call. 

“Across the country, Democratic governors have stepped into the void he’s created. Democratic governors have led expert-backed, decisive responses to the deadly pandemic, securing critical medical supplies, protecting businesses, and saving countless lives. 

“This pandemic and economic crisis has been exacerbated by Trump’s incompetence and pathetic lack of governance. Two hundred thousand Americans have already lost their lives – Donald Trump’s failures must not cost us anymore.”
