Today, 2023 DGA Chair and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy released the following statement on Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s inauguration:

“Congratulations to Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on her inauguration today. In her first term as governor, Gov. Whitmer always put Michigan first. She worked with both parties to deliver historic education investments, fix the roads, and ensure the state’s future as a leader in the auto industry — while also fending off threats to our democracy and leading the fight to protect women’s reproductive rights. 

“We are proud to have stood alongside Gov. Gretchen Whitmer throughout her first term and massive victory in November. As she enters her second term, Michigan’s future has never been brighter, and we look forward to supporting her strong leadership to keep pushing Michigan forward.”
