Democratic Governors Association Executive Director Meghan Meehan-Draper released the following statement:
“Democratic governors represent more than half of the country’s population and have earned the trust of voters across party lines and won tough races by delivering on the biggest issues facing Americans. That includes protecting access to health care and reproductive rights, creating more economic opportunity, safeguarding voting rights and appointing thousands of state-level independent judges who uphold the Constitution.
“As we brace for the potential for the same lawlessness and extremism that Donald Trump repeatedly promised to bring to the White House again, Americans can look to Democratic governors to continue standing up for fundamental freedoms and our democracy, and working across the aisle to make life better for working families.
“It’s Democratic governors who are once again the last line of defense for our rights and values.”
