DGA Statement on the Passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka:
The following is a statement from DGA Chair New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on the passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka:
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. For decades, Richard fought tirelessly as a national champion to ensure workers could earn fair wages in a good job, raise their families with dignity, and live their American dream.
“He was a strong voice to build a fair and just economy that leaves no one behind, and believed government works best when it is accountable to working families. At every avenue, he proved there is strength in solidarity because when we are united, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
“Richard Trumka’s career of service had an invaluable impact on our country, and on the rights of workers. Richard never gave up in his fight for social and economic justice and as we remember and honor him, we must continue his fight for workers and uphold the values that he stood for.”
