DGA Statement on President Biden’s Build Back Better Framework

After Democrats in Congress reached an agreement on President Biden’s Build Back Better Framework, Democratic Governors Association Chair New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham released the following statement:

“The historic agreement reached today by Democrats in Congress on President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda is a long-overdue investment in America’s middle class and its impact will transform lives for generations. 

“The Build Back Better agenda creates an economy that works for everyone — not just those at the top. It gives a leg up to working families by lowering costs while creating millions of good-paying jobs, and it positions the nation to tackle our most pressing challenges, from the climate crisis, to our competitiveness abroad.

“The core issues this framework addresses, like increasing access to affordable health care, child care, and a quality education, are the same kitchen table issues Democratic governors have long championed in their own states. Democratic governors played a pivotal role in shaping this agenda to ensure it met the unprecedented moment we’re in and we look forward to helping get this agenda over the finish line so American families can begin seeing its benefits.”
