DGA Statement on Supreme Court Ruling Cutting Off Funding for Preventative Health Care
DGA Deputy Communications Director Johanna Warshaw released the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling today that allows states to cut off Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood, which provides critical preventative care like cancer screenings and access to contraception:
“Donald Trump and Republicans across the country are intent on stripping away health care services from as many people as possible – and today’s ruling from the Supreme Court allowing states to cut funding from Planned Parenthood is their latest maneuver.
“Democratic Governors are the last line of defense for our freedoms and will always fight to protect and expand access to health care, not strip it away. With 38 critical races over the next two years, including bellwether races in New Jersey and Virginia this November, it’s never been more important that we elect Democratic governors who will defend reproductive freedom and hold Republicans accountable for their dangerous and unpopular anti-choice agenda.”
