DGA Statement on Sergio de la Peña’s Decision to Enter the Virginia Governor’s Race
DGA Executive Director Noam Lee released the following statement after Republican Sergio de la Peña announced his candidacy in Virginia’s race for governor:
“The last thing Virginia needs is another Trump loyalist running for governor. Like Amanda Chase and Kirk Cox, Sergio de la Peña fully supports Donald Trump’s divisive agenda, which poses a dangerous threat to democracy and goes against Virginians’ values.
“De la Peña’s entrance to the race is a reflection of how weak the already existing candidate pool is. No matter who gets the nomination, Virginia Republicans will be stuck with someone who wholeheartedly embraces Donald Trump’s agenda.”
