DGA Statement on Scott Jensen’s Entrance to Minnesota Governor’s Race
Today, Scott Jensen announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for governor of Minnesota.
Democratic Governors Association Executive Director Noam Lee released the following statement:
“Scott Jensen is representative of the pathetic field of gubernatorial candidates the Minnesota GOP is trying to scrape together. Jensen is nothing more than an anti-science, COVID denying has-been politician – which is literally the last thing Minnesota needs as the state recovers from the pandemic. Jensen has a dangerous history of pushing COVID-19 conspiracy theories, palling around with anti-vaccine crusaders, and fueling lies about the pandemic. In addition to his crazed theories, Jensen has a history of failing to show up for Minnesotans. As a state legislator, Jensen chose a round of golf over an important hearing on the pandemic.
“Minnesotans deserve a leader who shows up for them every day – not the bunch of election-deniers and COVID-deniers the MN GOP is putting forward. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has a record of fighting hard for his constituents and reaching bipartisan solutions to get things done. As Minnesota recovers from the pandemic, they need a governor who will continue to follow the science, not conspiracy theories.”
