DGA Statement on Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo’s Confirmation Hearing
Today, the U.S. Senate is holding a confirmation hearing on Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo’s nomination to lead the U.S. Department of Commerce.
DGA Executive Director Noam Lee released the following statement:
“We encourage the Senate to swiftly confirm Gov. Gina Raimondo as U.S. Commerce Secretary. Gov. Raimondo is the right person to help Americans recover from the pandemic and build back a better, more equitable economy.
“During her tenure as Rhode Island’s governor, the Ocean State turned a corner. Under Gov. Raimondo’s leadership, Rhode Island saw the most jobs in the state’s history and the lowest unemployment in 30 years. She helped the state grow its clean energy economy, protect access to health care, and create new job opportunities. As Commerce Secretary, Gov. Raimondo will work to reverse the harmful economic policies of the previous administration, rebuild a strong, inclusive middle class, and create an economy for the future.
“Democratic governors across the country look forward to working with Gov. Raimondo in her new role to help America safely recover from the pandemic and build back better.”
