DGA Statement on Republican Members of Congress Voting Against Bipartisan Housing Legislation

As rising costs crush families and homeownership becomes increasingly out of reach, House Republicans and current gubernatorial candidates Andy Biggs (AZ), David Schweikert (AZ),  Byron Donalds (FL), and Tommy Tuberville (AL) voted against bipartisan legislation to build more housing and lower costs, while Tom Tiffany (WI) and John James (MI) skipped the vote entirely. Every Republican member of Congress running for governor must answer why they are against building more housing to lower Americans’ costs.

“House Republicans running for governor have repeatedly voted to jack up the cost of living, and now they need to also explain why they refuse to support this bipartisan plan to lower the cost of housing,” said DGA Communications Director Sam Newton. “Democratic governors and candidates for governor have been running on aggressive plans to make life more affordable, and this is more proof that Trump and DC Republicans’ economic failures will be a major issue in governors’ races this November.”
