DGA Statement on Report of SCOTUS Draft Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade

DGA Chair North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper released the following statement on the reported U.S. Supreme Court draft opinion to overturn Roe v. Wade:

“Women deserve access to safe, legal reproductive care, including abortion, and Democratic governors are the strongest and last line of defense to protect this right. While this is not an official court ruling and Roe remains law of the land, this draft gives us a glimpse into the unprecedented threat reproductive rights will face when the court releases their rulings in June.

“This November, electing and reelecting Democratic governors is our best hope to guarantee women across the country have the reproductive freedom they need and are ensured by the Constitution. The DGA will fight like hell to get it done.”
