Chip in today to elect Dem govs across the country >>
Democratic governors are leading the fight against Donald Trump and his administration – and they need your help. Trump and his allies have hundreds of millions of dollars to attack our candidates, and we have to make sure we’ve got the resources to fight back. With 36 races on the map this November, 80% of Americans will cast their vote for their next governor. We need to invest NOW to expand our map, win in battleground states, protect our blue firewall of Dem govs, and flip critical states from red to blue. Can Dem govs count on you to chip in right now?
DGA Statement on Rebecca Kleefisch’s Entrance to Wisconsin Governor’s Race
Today, Republican Rebecca Kleefisch announced her candidacy for governor of Wisconsin.
Democratic Governors Association Executive Director Noam Lee released the following statement:
“Rebecca Kleefisch would drag Wisconsin back to the era of Scott Walker, the last thing Wisconsinites need as they recover from the pandemic. Kleefisch championed Walker’s efforts to undermine public education, create a historic teacher shortage, leave the roads in a state of disrepair, and deny Wisconsinites access to affordable health care.
“A Kleefisch administration would be disastrous, slowing down Wisconsin’s economic recovery. She would starve schools of needed funds as they try to reopen and refuse to expand access to affordable health care, which could save Wisconsin $1.6 billion over the next few years. And she has joined the far-right extremists in her party, spreading COVID conspiracies and the same lies about our election that led to the insurrection on January 6th.
“Gov. Tony Evers has been a steady, bipartisan leader and has always put science and common sense first with the pandemic, even as Republicans in the legislature fought to undermine him. We look forward to continuing to fight for a better Wisconsin with Gov. Evers in his second term.”
