DGA Statement on Rebecca Dow’s Entrance to New Mexico’s Republican Gubernatorial Primary
Today, GOP state Rep. Rebecca Dow announced her entrance into the New Mexico Republican primary for governor.
Democratic Governors Association Executive Director Noam Lee released the following statement:
“Rebecca Dow’s extremist, far-right record shows she’s out of touch with New Mexicans. As a state legislator, Dow has repeatedly voted against the right to choose, public school funding, and commonsense gun reform. Now she wants to be governor, where she would threaten to strike down the widely popular policies that New Mexican families deserve to appease her fringe supporters. From promoting homophobic policies to misleading about COVID on social media, Dow’s dangerous rhetoric proves one thing — New Mexico deserves better.
“Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has proven time and time again what real leadership can do for New Mexico. She’s been an advocate for all New Mexicans, delivering big wins like investments in small businesses, tax cuts for the middle class, and $4 billion in pandemic relief money in the pockets of New Mexicans. Next year, voters have an opportunity to reject the fringe policies of the far-right by re-electing Gov. Lujan Grisham.”
