Tonight, DGA Chair Governor Laura Kelly released the following statement on Proposition 50 passing in California:
“We’re thrilled to see that California voters overwhelmingly passed Proposition 50. This is a clear victory for Americans who believe we should have fair elections and a major rejection of Donald Trump’s dangerous attempt to rig the midterms.
“Republican politicians in DC know they cannot defend their harmful agenda of gutting health care and raising costs so they’re blatantly attacking democracy – and this is what it looks like when Democratic governors fight back.
“We would like to congratulate Governor Gavin Newsom for leading this effort and the DGA is proud we had his back by being one of the earliest organizations to invest over seven figures to back the campaign to pass Proposition 50.”
The DGA invested $2 million to support the campaign to pass Proposition 50.
