DGA Statement on President Trump’s 25% Tariffs Going Into Effect 

Today, President Donald Trump’s 25 percent tariffs on all imports from Mexico and Canada officially go into effect. DGA Communications Director Sam Newton released the following statement:

“At a time when Americans are worried about already high costs, Donald Trump is jacking up the price of everyday goods by 25 percent. We know this will hurt American families the most, as businesses will just pass the price of these tariffs onto consumers, making the cost of groceries, housing supplies, cars, appliances, and everything in between even higher and more out of reach. Every Republican running for governor in Virginia and New Jersey must tell voters where they stand on Trump’s 25 percent tariff price hike.”
