DGA Statement on President Biden Announcing his Reelection Campaign

DGA Chair New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy released the following statement on President Biden’s announcement that he is running for reelection:

“President Joe Biden has shown remarkable leadership to get our country back on track and delivered major results for the American people. That includes growing our economy from the bottom up and the middle out, bringing manufacturing jobs back home, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, strengthening Medicare and Social Security,  fixing our roads and bridges, and tackling gun violence, all while protecting our fundamental rights from being stripped away by right-wing extremists. He’s also led the way by standing up for Ukraine and nominating a historic number of judges, including the first Black woman confirmed to the Supreme Court, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. 

“For each of these pieces of historic legislation – including the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPs Act,  and the Inflation Reduction Act – Democratic governors have played a crucial role in turning these bipartisan wins into tangible benefits for working people in their states. In New Jersey, we’ve been especially thrilled with the President’s leadership in getting the Gateway Program underway, including constructing new rail tunnels under the Hudson River, which will pay direct dividends for our state for decades.

“I’m excited to have President Biden’s back during his reelection and we look forward to a strong partnership so he can continue to do what he’s done everyday in office — get things done for the American people.”
