DGA Communications Director Sam Newton released the following statement on Montana Governor Greg Gianforte being elected the next chair of the Republican Governors Association:
“Greg Gianforte is a far-right extremist best known for enacting a dangerous abortion ban, pushing to gut Americans’ health care, and attacking public lands. His failed record is a clear sign that Republican governors are only doubling down on the GOP’s unpopular and harmful agenda that voters just rejected in Virginia and New Jersey and will cost them even more in 2026. In contrast, Democratic governors are making life better for the people in their states by lowering costs, creating jobs, and improving public education. We look forward to Gianforte touting his record of banning abortion and support for Donald Trump’s health care cuts on the campaign trail over the next year.”
