DGA Statement on Michigan General Election
WASHINGTON, DC—Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin, Chair of the Democratic Governors Association, tonight issued the following statement on Michigan’s general election:
“Despite a tough electoral environment and millions of dollars in negative ads funded by Republicans against him, Mark Schauer ran a spirited race for governor. He ran a campaign that put schools and middle-class jobs first. He gave voice to the reality that Michigan needs a stronger and fairer economy, where every child has the opportunity to succeed. While he didn’t prevail tonight, the state of Michigan is better for the debate Mark provided.”
