DGA Statement on Meuser Voting to Slash Medicaid and Food Assistance in Pennsylvania
In response to Republicans voting to pass extreme cuts to Medicaid and SNAP in the name of giving tax handouts to the ultra-wealthy, DGA spokesperson Izzi Levy released the following statement:
“Today, Dan Meuser voted to give a massive tax handout to his billionaire buddies and add $3.3 trillion to our national deficit at the expense of hundreds of thousands of working class Pennsylvanians, while Stacy Garrity eagerly cheered on the passage of this harmful legislation. This toxic bill will not only strip health care from more than 300,000 people and strip food assistance from 140,000 people, but it will threaten tens of thousands of jobs across the Commonwealth, eliminating good-paying union jobs and driving up energy costs.
“If either Meuser or Garrity chooses to run for governor, they will have to spend the next sixteen months trying to explain why they proudly pushed to spike costs, stifle economic opportunity, and make life harder for working families across Pennsylvania.”
