DGA Statement on McCrory Doubling Down on Discrimination
Today, the Democratic Governors Association issued the following statement after North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory dug in even further over House Bill 2, choosing to sue the federal government.
Facing a potential $4.8 billion economic loss – including the loss of federal Title IX education funding – McCrory took the defense of his discriminatory House Bill 2 one step further by announcing a lawsuit against the Department of Justice.
“Today, Pat McCrory chose to put North Carolina schools and jobs at risk to pursue his desperate political agenda,” said DGA Communications Director Jared Leopold. “With billions of dollars at stake, Governor McCrory is playing politics instead of searching for a solution. It’s time for Governor McCrory to admit what North Carolinians know: HB2 was a disastrous mistake, and it must be repealed.”
